Xceedium Receives EAL2 Common Criteria Certification for GateKeeper Appliance

Xceedium, a leader in secure IT operations management, today announced that its flagship GateKeeper appliance was awarded Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 2 (EAL2) certification for meeting strict government IT security requirements as outlined by the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP). The appliance, which is currently being tested for Evaluation Assurance Level 3 certification, has been deployed by the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Air Force, and other risk-averse organizations requiring the highest levels of protection in the central management of highly sensitive IT environments distributed around the globe.

"As more public, financial and Fortune 1000 organizations pursue the cost savings benefits of business models such as outsourcing, offshoring, contractors and vendors with engineers who use powerful tools to do their jobs, it is imperative that they deploy an IT operations management solution that can deliver more efficiency and also rein in and control these Ôuntrusted' entrants," said Xceedium President/CEO Cheryl Traverse. "NIAP's certification of GateKeeper demonstrates that our appliance is a government-class solution that can be deployed with the utmost confidence by any global organization looking to overcome the costs and complexities of remote IT management and remote application development."

The GateKeeper appliance provides a platform that allows operators to remotely manage data centers, disaster recovery centers and branch offices as one integrated system. Cutting-edge granular control features combine to enable the creation and enforcement of a standardized containment security model across all third-party vendors, contractors and other specialists who require access to the IT network. These features include centralized access and policy rules and enforcement, precision compartmentalization and control, real-time alerts and violations prevention, and the strengthening of pre-existing security solutions.

NIAP is a U.S. government initiative formed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the National Security Agency to create an international standard for security in information technology being deployed in government and commercial organizations. Its Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme (CCEVS) aims to create the highest possible standards in the security testing, evaluation and assessment of information technology being deployed in government organizations. CCEVS is recognized by the U.S., Canada, France, Germany, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Norway, Finland, and Greece and is increasingly being adopted by commercial organizations all over the world.
