Cheryl Traverse
President and Chief Executive Officer
Ms. Traverse has set the strategic direction, built revenue traction and sold five companies in the past 12 years. She has been a president/CEO of companies in the web authoring, personalization and merchandising application, integration, mobile middleware platform and Linux application security space.
Ms. Traverse was most recently President/CEO/Chairman of the Board of Immunix, Inc, the leading provider of application security technology for LINUX, located in Portland, Oregon and was funded by ArrowPath. Ms. Traverse restructured the technology for a new market space, created sales traction with OEM, Strategic Alliances and enterprise customers and sold the company to Novell, Inc.
Previously she was President/CEO of Covigo, a mobile middleware manufacturer, where she set the strategic direction, recrafted the technology, built revenue traction with OEM and enterprise customers and exited with a strategic purchase by Symbol Technologies.
As president and CEO of Taviz Technology, Ms. Traverse created a viable company in the crowded integration space. She was responsible for launching the new Taviz brand and supplying the vision, strategic direction and execution skills to create a successful turnaround. Ms. Traverse was president and CEO of brightInfo.com, a personalization and merchandising application vendor, where she delivered over $4M in revenue the first year. The company was purchased by Annuncio Software and then sold to Peoplesoft. Additionally, she was EVP for iBand where she raised $2 million dollars, delivered OEM/field revenue and helped sell the company to Macromedia for $36M.
Other accomplishments include successful high growth assignments such as: building a $600 million direct marketing business for Sprint with an organization of over 800+ people, growing a $60M revenue stream to $150M for MCI and building a $25 million direct marketing business for Gupta Corporation. Ms. Traverse was General Manager of NetManage's Emerging Technology Division. Ms. Traverse also held senior positions with Warner Amex Cable in the sales and marketing area.
Ms. Traverse holds a BA degree from Wilkes University and an MS degree from Hofstra University. Ms. Traverse sits on the advisory board and mentoring forum of the Women's Technology Cluster, on the advisory board of the Forum for Women Entrepreneurs, and on the board of the San Francisco League of Women Voters. She has been awarded the TrailBlazer Award in 2002 and the LodeStar Award in 2003 from Forum for Women Entrepreneurs.
Craig Mezik
Vice President of Finance
As Vice President, Finance at Xceedium, Mr. Mezik is responsible for the financial and administrative functions of the company. Mr. Mezik reports directly to the CEO. Mr. Mezik joins Xceedium with two decades of financial management experience and leading financial operations at several companies.
Prior to joining Xceedium, Mr. Mezik was the Chief Financial Officer at Ridge Manufacturing Corporation in Rockaway, NJ (2003 to 2006), a $10 million manufacturer of printed circuit boards, where he managed and performed all of the financial and administrative functions for the company. Mr. Mezik was successful in addressing and resolving significant issues confronting the company and refinanced the company's debt.
From 2001 to 2002, Mr. Mezik was the Controller and Chief Financial Officer, at Wavexpress, Inc. in New York City. Mr. Mezik was responsible for all financial and administrative functions, and was successful in saving the company millions of dollars by re-negotiating the company's building lease and cutting expenditures.
From 1998 to 2001, Mr. Mezik was Vice President & Controller for Prism Communications, Inc. in New York City, a start-up CLEC and the first DSL provider in New York City. Mr. Mezik was successful at building all of the company's financial operations and processes, and was integral in growing the company's revenues from $0 to $5 million in two years.
Mr. Mezik was with PSE&G Company in Newark, NJ, where he led a newly formed Management Reporting Group. Prior to PSE&G, Mr. Mezik spent the first 13 years of his career with AT&T Corporation, then in Morristown, NJ as an Assistant Controller, AT&T International Operations Division, where he was responsible for the accounting, financial reporting and analysis for the $2 billion division.
Mr. Mezik earned a BS degree in Accounting from the University of Alabama in 1984, an MBA in Accounting and Taxation from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and he received an Advanced Certificate in International Business from Seton Hall University. Mr. Mezik became a CPA in New Jersey in 1991 and was a Certified Internal Auditor and member of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
David Ballard
Vice President of Sales
As Vice President, Sales, Mr. Ballard is responsible for building on current lines of business, identifying new revenue growth opportunities and expanding Xceedium's products into the channel. With nearly 20 years of experience in technology, he brings knowledge of a wide array of markets and technologies to Xceedium's executive team.
Mr. Ballard joins Xceedium from IntraLinks, Inc., where as Area Vice President he was instrumental in achieving triple-digit growth for 2007, while developing a sales team and increasing penetration into major global accounts such as Deutsche Bank, Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley.
Prior to IntraLinks, Mr. Ballard served as Area Vice President for CommVault. While in this role, he averaged 60% license revenue growth year over year between 2003 and 2006, and closed significant deals with companies including Honda, Aramark, CBS Broadcasting and ESPN.
Previous to CommVault, Mr. Ballard served as Director of Business Development at Lane15 Software, an InfiniBand startup company in Austin, TX.
Mr. Ballard began his technology career while leading strategic OEM initiatives for Veritas Software, where he was part of OEM licensing wins with IT giants such as IBM, Compaq and Sun, and grew the NetBackup for Windows revenue from $745K to $5.4M while managing that product.
Mr. Ballard holds a Bachelor's Degree from Drew University.
Marjo F. Mercado
Vice President of Engineering
As Vice President of Engineering at Xceedium, Mr. Mercado oversees and directs all engineering operations globally and ensures products meet quality and sales objectives. Mr. Mercado joins Xceedium with over two decades of experience in building and leading engineering operations to exceed customer expectations at high technology companies.
Prior to Xceedium, Mr. Mercado was the Director of Engineering Tools and Services at Trend Micro where he was responsible for the software configuration management, globalization, methodologies, tools, training, and standards and patent programs. While at Trend Micro, Mr. Mercado demonstrated his strong leadership qualities. He administered the Idea Lab program to solicit innovative ideas from employees and identify new products, services and markets for Trend Micro to develop high growth business.
Prior to Trend Micro, Mr. Mercado served as Senior Director of Solutions and Support at TurboLinux, a leading Linux software company. At TurboLinux, Mr. Mercado was responsible for developing products to be delivered to customers on time and within budget. Previously, he held several management positions leading product and engineering teams at TurboLinux and Hewlett-Packard. Before HP, he was a Research Engineer at SRI International.
Mr. Mercado holds an MBA and a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley, and an MS in Computer Science Engineering from San Jose State University.
