Technical Support Engineer, Jersey City, NJ

Xceedium is currently seeking to fill a permanent position as an Technical Support Engineer. In this role, your ability to diagnose product failures, deliver timely remediation to our customers, and advocate with the product team on behalf of our customers will ensure ongoing success in the further deployment of our solution. You will record and track customer problems, provide front-line diagnostic support, and escalate suspected product defects to our engineering team.

You will also serve as backup to our IT and product operations team, responsible for resolving corporate infrastructure issues as well as appliance assembly, shipping and receiving.

The ideal candidate must be an exceptional communicator who is self-directed and service-oriented with a strong grasp of network security technology solutions. He or she is an engineer who enjoys troubleshooting problems. This candidate is excited about the prospect of being able to make a difference in his or her employee’s success. Prior experience with technology start-ups is a plus.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide front-line support to customers, guiding them in proper configuration and administration of our solution.
  • Work with customers to isolate and diagnose suspected product problems, and work with product engineering to resolve product defects.
  • Track and take ownership of customer problems and ensure timely resolution.
  • Assist as needed with IT and product operations efforts, including support for our IT infrastructure and preparation of product for shipment.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years experience in a technology product support role
  • Software and hardware troubleshooting skills
  • Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting networking infrastructure technologies, including LAN/WAN, wireless, VPNs and firewalls
  • Familiarity with network security tools and IT security operational concerns.
  • Working knowledge of Linux systems, including the ability to install and do basic configuration of Linux systems
  • Working administrative knowledge of desktop operating environments, including Windows, Macintosh, and industry web browsers
  • Working administrative knowledge of server operating systems, including Linux, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX and Windows
