World Bank and Booz Allen Hamilton Join Xceedium, SafeNet and 8KMiles to Discuss Lessons Learned from the Cloud at AWS re:Invent 2012
Security Experts to Describe Meeting Real-World Cloud and Hybrid Network Challenges Around Securing Privileged Users, Identity Management, and Operations
WHAT: At Amazon Web Services’ 2012 AWS re: Invent conference in Las Vegas, senior security leaders from Booz Allen Hamilton, International Finance Corporation (a member of the World Bank Group), SafeNet and 8KMiles will join Xceedium in a panel discussion on strategies for securing cloud computing environments and hybrid networks spanning cloud and internal business and government systems. The panel, “Real World Privileged Identity, Security and Operational Experiences,” will take place on Wednesday, November 28 at 3:25 p.m. in The Venetian resort.
Panelists include John Suit, VP Product Management of Xceedium; Russell Dietz, Chief Technology Officer of SafeNet; Craig Sutherland, Principal Engineer for Booz Allen Hamilton, Oliver Alvarez, Lead Enterprise Security Architect at International Finance Corporation, and Sri Vasireddy, Chief Cloud Officer at 8KMiles. The discussion will focus on lessons learned in implementing strong security controls across cloud and hybrid environments to safeguard and monitor privileged user accounts, access management, ID credentials and other sensitive assets for different types of organizations.
Additionally, Xceedium’s Ken Ammon will present in a separate session “Privileged Identity and Access Management,” on November 28 at 10:30 a.m. in The Venetian. Ammon’s presentation will describe best practices for protecting your infrastructure from the risks that privileged users and credentials pose to systems and data for both AWS cloud and hybrid architectures.
WHO: Ken Ammon is Chief Strategy Officer for Xceedium, the leading provider of privileged identity and access management solutions for the hybrid cloud. He specializes in security matters relating to the federal government and has testified before the House Government Reform Committee on security vulnerabilities affecting government information and infrastructure. Mr. Ammon also served as an adjunct faculty member at the National Cryptologic School where he was recognized with the Scientific Achievement Award. He began his career in the U.S. Air Force as a captain assigned to the National Security Agency.
John Suit is Vice President of Product Management for Xceedium. With more than 20 years of experience in the cyber security, virtualization, and the intelligence security industry, John leads Xceedium’s worldwide product management initiatives. His extensive history of innovation includes twenty-one U.S. Patents – including nine in Securing Virtualization and Cloud systems. Prior to Suit Advisors, John was co-founder and CTO of Nano Network Engines, which became Fortisphere. John was also the co-founder and CTO of SilentRunner a successful cyber security software company that was ultimately sold to Computer Associates.
Russell Dietz is the Chief Technology Officer of SafeNet. He leads the strategic positioning and migration of new technologies into SafeNet, driving SafeNet’s successful solutions portfolio. With more than 25 years of industry experience, Mr. Dietz has held multiple CTO positions for high tech companies including Hifn, Inc. where he led company efforts in defining the next generation of security, service and network processing solutions, and Apptitude where he drove the vision, strategy and architecture of the application and flow classification solutions, MeterFlow and MeterWorks. He has been awarded 20 patents in data communications traffic analysis, behavior, security and data protection.
Craig Sutherland is Principal Engineer of Booz Allen Hamilton. He has over 15 years of experience in technology strategy, architecture, design, development, and hands-on delivery of large-scale business process automation and secure enterprise cloud computing solutions supporting complex global production environments. Mr. Sutherland leads Booz Allen’s commercial cross-market vertical cloud-based services team with extending Booz Allen’s established cloud computing capabilities with a focus on enterprise hybrid cloud transformation, cloud security architecture and cloud-based analytics.
Oliver Alvarez is Lead Enterprise Security Architect for International Finance Corporation. Mr. Alvarez has been instrumental in leading cloud strategy initiatives for IFC. His primary responsibilities include ensuring all IFC systems are certified and compliant with World Bank Group security standards and are operated within acceptable margins of risk. Mr. Alvarez has fifteen years of IT and Information Security experience, graduated from Adrian College with a B.A. in Computer Science and a Minor in Business Administration, and holds the following certifications: Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), IDA Pro Certified by DataRescue, OSSTMM Professional Security Analyst (OPSA), and NSA INFOSEC Assessment Methodology (IAM) Certified.
Sri Vasireddy is Chief Cloud Officer at 8KMiles. He helps commercial and government enterprises develop strategies to increase the efficiencies and effectiveness of their mission by adopting secure cloud computing solutions. Prior to joining 8KMiles, Sri held a Principal position at Amazon Web Services and at the MITRE Corporation. He advised several federal agencies in establishing business strategy and rules to provide scalable, secure and reliable IT Infrastructure and Operations Management (IOM) environment. His efforts include the GSA Infrastructure as a Service RFQ, CMS data center modernization, and DISA Net-Centric Enterprise Services. Sri has an MBA from Duke University and an MS in Computer Science from George Mason University.
